Yogi is a three month old Solomon Island Eclectus.
He's part of a big family who loves him dearly. His Mom- Diane, Daddy- John, and their three children, Stephen age 10, Vincent age 7, Christina age 2, and their 1 year old Australian Terrier, Sydney!
"Yogi likes to sit on the lanai on his dragon wood tree play gym and watch other birds fly by. He also enjoys all the attention that his new "Flock" gives him. When he is in his cage, his favorite toy is a shreddable. Yogi's favorite food so far is brown rice with mashed veggies. The next day you can really smell the garlic on him!
Yogi has been a wonderful addition to our family. In contrast to what some people say about birds not being fond of children, this is not the case with Yogi. Teaching children to respect a parrot as well as any other animal is a valuable lesson. Our two year old daughter, whom I was worried about near the bird, has been calm and gentle with him. The children interact with Yogi under supervision and Yogi seems to enjoy the children tremendously."

Skye is a 4 year old Hyacinth Macaw I call my "Godson". He's a big part of our Macaw Dreams family and we get to spend a lot of time together when his parents take vacations. Skye enjoys Macadamia nuts as part of his diet. His favorite game is Jump. He leaps as high as he can while yelling, "Jump"! Skye lives with his Momma- Donna and Daddy- Leonard and several other feathered siblings.
Joey was a 12-year-old BG surrendered to the rescue after two homes and possibly a stay at a pet shop in between. She was kept in a very small cage, not handled much, and was tormented by another bird in a divided cage and plucked her body bare.
"Joey is a totally unexpected experience in my life. After the loss of my last bird, I never thought I could do this again. I even tried looking for another Eclectus at rescues and such, but nothing ever felt right. Then one day I was asked to look at the Iowa Parrot Rescue sight and saw Joey; my heart flipped, my stomach flopped and my brain said, "a macaw?"
demolish anything wicker, run around on the back of the couch and play the kissing game.
Joey is continuing the harmony of my life with birds, I healed her past and she healed my heart."
I was very reluctant to visit Joey and had my doubts I could handle a "big" macaw. Long story short, Joey and I fell in love and four days later my husband and I made the trip back to bring Joey home. I didn't even have a cage to fit her in! Despite her past owners saying she was mean and bad, Joey is sweet, personable, a clown, a flirt and has a dear soul. Little did they know, they didn't even know she was a girl. A month after coming home, Joey (who we thought was a boy) proceeded to give me a clutch of eggs - surprise, surprise. Joey has had me on my toes ever since. Joey's favorite foods are sweet potatoes and walnuts. She loves to do laundry,

Past Centerfolds
"I never expected to be so in love with a macaw. Years earlier when my husband mentioned he wanted to own birds, especially a macaw, I was definitely against THAT idea! I finally gave in on owning a bird but went for a smaller species as the beak on the macaw just scared me to death. It is truly funny how life and our view of it changes with time. After starting out with our smaller bird, I was bitten by the birdie bug and realized what a joy these creatures were to share your life with. One day just over 3 years ago when going to our local breeder for our weekly trip for bird supplies.
I think we got a cockatoo in disquise with this one. He is a constant attention hound and sticks to me like glue. He cannot stand to have me out of his sight. If I should have the "nerve" to leave the room and not take him with me, I sure hear about it. Actually, the whole house hears about it! He calls "hey" after me until I return to get him or he jumps down and comes on after me himself. He is definitely a big momma's boy.
After 3 years of sharing my life with him I cannot imagine what it was I was so afraid of, nor can I imagine life without him in it. I think my true soulmate has blue and gold feathers (psst..don't tell my husband! LOL). "

I fell in love at first sight. In one of her brooder boxes out back out peeked the most adorable little spikey headed bucket beak I had ever seen! That was it.....I was sold.
I ran over to get my husband and show him what I had spotted and that was all it took, we were new macaw owners. We put our deposit and spent the next few months with weekly visits for feedings and bonding. On October 17, 2003 Moko joined our flock.
