Quina is said to be a supergrain and is loaded with protein and calcium. I even read that only one cup of Quinoa has the same amount of calcium as a quart of milk! Even better is the fact that the wild Macaws eat Quinoa in their natural habitat. It's mainly grown in Peru and Brazil. I love the idea of feeding them the same food they would naturally be eating. It's not often we can do that.

Ingredients
2 cups of  Quinoa
4 cups of water (preferably spring water)

Chop and set aside one peeled and cored apple, one Orange and one cup of diced dried fruit such as Papaya, figs or dates.

Put Quinoa in a sauce pan and cover with water. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

The Quinoa will become translucent and the grain will "sprout" open.

Remove from heat and with a fork, fluff while mixing in remaining ingredients.

Once the mix cools down you can store it in several Ziploc bags and freeze for later use.
