This recipe is so fast and easy and my birds just love it. It's perfect for dinner time because the birds go to bed with a warm full crop. I save this dinner for evenings when I get home late or when I want the birds to eat fast and fly off to bed so I can fly off to dinner with my hubby. Yams can easily be frozen too. I first wash them, peel and then cube them. I just put them in a Ziploc bag and freeze for future use. It makes this dinner a breeze to prepare whenever I need it.
Ingredients
Medium Sized Sweet Potato or Yam
Banana, preferably very ripe
Apple Sauce
2 pads of unsalted butter (no margarine)
Few pinches of Cinnamon
Wash and dry the sweet potato and use a fork to pierce a few holes in it. Cook the sweet potato in your microwave or oven until tender.
Cut open the sweet potato. Using a towel, hold the potato while scooping out the meat. Add the butter and mash with a fork.
Heat the apple sauce in the microwave until warm and then add to the potato.
Slice a banana and mash into the potato mixture, leaving a few chunks of banana. Sprinkle in a little cinnamon and serve warm.
